RE: Bike Lifts - 3

ABBA Skylift works on the R/RS. I spoke to ABBA to find out why they don't fit the R/RS. They said you need to be the GS fitting adaptor and put the back wheel a block of wood approx. 25mm high, to raise the swingarm pivot location up.

In my original question , I said I wanted to lift an old R100RS as well as the modern bike, I'm coming to the conclusion that a "platform under the wheels" is the only good solution to cover both bikes.

I've been looking at the Kenda stands https://www.kendonusa.com/collections/st...otorcycle-lifts as it can easily be folded up and stored when not in use. A little pricey and not sure if they sell/ship to the UK.

Nice looking lifts, but a bit pricey for me. I’m planning to service my old R100RS soon, will be interesting to see if I can manage without a lift now I have a replacement hip, in theory I’m more flexible! But it will certainly test my knees. I’ll use an old swim float to take the strain. Biggest task is getting the old girl on and off it’s centre stand, boy they were poorly designed.

This is beginning to sound like a message board for geriatric old folks. Don't ask how I know about bad backs, bad knees, bad feet and bad attitudes...heard it from a friend.

These knee pads have been a game changer. I was using a foam pad but these are much better as a) the seem to mould better to the bony lump on my knee and b) I don't have to keep moving the pad as I work around the garden.
