Hi Folks!

I've been riding about 7 years and decided this was the year to get serious and buy a bike to last.
I brought home a 2018 R1200RS in February and weather finally allowed me to ride it for the first time in April. I love it!
But I also have some questions.
I love the seat that came with it, but I would like about a half inch lower. Are there any quick fixes? Without having to change out the seat?
Also, with the OEM luggage rack, does anyone have any suggestions for attaching a GIVI top case. I have a mono lock version that came with a plate and some brackets, but nothing lines up just right to mount it safely.

Hiya and welcome. Lower seats are available, low and extra low from 'standard'. I don't know of an easier way to lower one. You might find someone that'll swap if you're lucky. I did

I've got the OEM top box but I do know that there are plates for Givi. Search will produce some info.

You could ask someone to shave off some foam but this might compromise comfort

Givi make a Monokey plate kit to fit.

SW Motech make universal kits - have a look to see if they do a kit that has Givi Monolock adapters. I have used their kit for side panniers as Givi do not make standard Monolock rails and I have a bunch of Monokey stuff.

Personally, I think Monolock kit is made for scooters. It has a simpler latching system to Monokey and I am not sure it is made for the stress levels it might get on a faster bike. Others might have a different view.

+1 on Peter's suggestion to go with the low seat. I've seen those for sale on this forum as well as eBay. You may also want to check out the ADVRider classifieds.

Re: OEM luggage rack, I had the Givi rack for the R/RS but ditched that for a Bacaruda mount because the latter looks so much nicer and is better engineered.
I don't think Johan is shipping those to the US any longer, so you may have to find a friend in Europe to ship it to you if you decide to go that route.

Johan's rack is for Monokey, not Monolock. 2 very different latching systems

for a lower seat. The R model uses the same seat as the RS but comes with the next lower version as stock. People looking to sell or swap seats there quite a bit.

My bike came with the low seat, and I bought the standard seat because it fit me better. So I do have a low seat for sale.
