Have a Harley Road Glide. Looking to get a Beemer. Always wanted an RS. Looked at one about 1995. Almost bought it.

What's the pros and cons? Not certain I like the inverted buckets. Don't like having to pull the cams for routine maintenance. Always like the adjustable cam followers. They also got away from the canti-levered fork. I thought that was a great idea. Why did they get away from that?

How many miles do you have on yours? I'm looking at a 2018 with 2,000 miles. Who trades in a bike with 2,000 miles??? That's what worries me. Should I buy an older one with low miles? Half tempted to do that and keep the Road Glide.

Pulling cams for routine maintenance???

I don’t know where that came from. I’ve yet to hear of a 1200WC motor that needed a valve clearance adjustment. Checking is a simple task.

I’m a Brit. I’ve owned a lot of bikes and that includes a pair of HD’s (it was a phase I went through). My RS is the best bike I’ve owned in nearly 50 years. For the riding I do, which will I guess differ immensely from much US riding, comparing a Harley to the RS is like comparing an interesting concept to a real world motorcycle.

I’d suggest that a good pre Euro 4 RS is almost the equal of a 1250 too, in my experience of the 1250 motor.

You're in a nice area of the state to access some great miles.
I assume you've stopped by Gateway BMW to talk to the humble, super-knowledgeable, and talented Tom Huff (Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday) and look at some of the used RSs there.
You'll see a lot of Harleys for resale on the lot, which tells you something.

(If you can keep 2 bikes, they'd make a nice combination - until you realize you stopped riding the cruiser.)

My co-worker traded in his street glide with only about 3k miles on it for.... a custom road king. Go figure. Either way, you've stumbled into a site where folks think the world of the RS. It's a great all-arounder, does everything you ask of it. The harley guys at work give me shit about the BMW, but all like it.
