Yeah.........you should give it a decent bath before parking it for the winter. No need to let those black flies, junebugs, etc harden any more than they need too

Along with Mr. 36654's worthy ideas, I'd like to throw in a suggestion about your tyres.

This could (and possibly will) start a whole argument, but over the years I've been lead to believe that keeping your tyres off a cold garage floor over winter is a good idea, especially if you live somewhere that gets really cold. The idea is to stop the rubber hardening at the contact point, and possibly deforming.

Something like this means you could give the front wheel a spin occasionally (assuming the bike is on its centre stand and the rear wheel is in the air already):

A search of Amazon (UK) has thrown up various alternatives (usually a plate with 2 rollers), .

I've put a block of wood under the front wheel of bikes in the past.

I park my bike on a big old rubber estate car boot liner mat and keep a dehumidifier in the garage... as well as a heater to keep the temp above zero (electrically heated oil pipe radiator)

rotate the front tyre every two weeks to prevent flat spots and plug in my Optimate 4 ...
