Hello from the down in the woods just north of Bristol

Brought it home today, proud new owner.

Previously had a 12GS (problematic) and more recently a CBF1000 (faultless).

Looks good in black.
Are you from Bristol England or Bristol USA?

Whereabouts in the USA is Bristol? I'd guess it was somewhere east coast.

Bristol is found in the following US States: Connecticut, Virginia, Tennessee, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine, New York, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, Washington (state), Nevada, Colorado, Missouri, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey.

I know the feeling, I was surprised to see that Scotland has a "Perth" and that England has a "Brighton". I suppose there are a lot of towns and cities in the "Old World" that have been so impressed by what those of us in the "New World" have done with our nations, that they pay homage to our success by naming their cities after ours.

I also checked to see if Oz had a "Bristol". Alas, no. However it does have a "Bistro", which is really much more in keeping with our national character.

I didn't realize there were so many Bristols in the US and I love geography. The most famous one is Bristol, TN as there is a major nascar event there every year. Nascar (go fast, turn left) actually had a cool history, then came the movie "Days of Thunder" and it blew up.

Doc, you shouldn't discount the fact that the city of Bristol you mention is split in two by the state lines of Tennessee and Virginia. You are certainly correct that the notoriety generally does go the the TN NASCAR race track side. Stick.

Yes that was probably me, but I wasn't on that lakes trip.
I did a mini-tour of north England just recently. The road up from Penrith to Alston was one of the highlights so I envy you living in the wild and wooly north!
The CBF is a very decent all-rounder and was very happy with mine. Only thing I had to change was to upgrade the fork springs. After a few years on that I wanted something just a bit more capable for eating distance on the highway, and a bit more fun on the good roads.
Thought about many bikes but decided what I want is a sporty tourer, and there isn't much choice of those.
