Here is an interesting YouTube review that compares oil in an unopened can of 70-year old oil with modern conventional oil. Apparently, there have been some advances in oil technology since the good old days - as much as I hate to admit it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zHlxeu_yuM&feature=youtu.be

shame most[1] motorcycle makers have yet to accept the advances and extended their service intervals...

[1] I say most as the Triumph 1200 is up to 12,000 miles

I remember new motor oil being green.......

Duckhams Hypergrade was green and the leading seller in the UK until brown Castrol GTX came along

Back in the day, you were either a Quaker State or Pennzoil man, in my area.

Castrol was that exotic stuff for "furrin" cars and motorcycles
