clothing and helmet » Neotec 3 helmet & 3rd party comms unit

I've just splashed out on a new Neotec 3 helmet. It's great, but I want to fit my existing comms unit to it (a Cardo Scala Rider Q1). Now unfortunately Shoei want you to buy their bespoke built-in comms gadget, which while very pretty and neat, is a cool extra £300 - that's definitely not happening. But because the Neotec 3 has a very thick rim (for their comms), it's pretty hard to get my unit to attach (even with a glue pad rather than a screw clamp).

If you've been there, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about! Before I start trying to 'customise' my Cardo unit, I Just wondered if there's anyone here who's been in the same boat and if so, how they've solved it? (How about you, @Sanemancured!)

Thanks Peter. Actually I'd heard that the Cardo Edge works fine with the Neotec 3, whereas I'm struggling with my Cardo Scala Rider - I couldn't understand why, but just having googled some images I can see why now: the Edge simply attaches flat to the side of the helmet, whereas the Scala Rider has quite a cumbersome mount/clamp affair which has to extend below the edge of the helmet and back up inside... see:



This is the only comms unit I've ever used, so I guess if this is a uniquely bad fitment I'm probably screwed. I only use it to relay GPS instructions, which it does fine, so I'm certainly not minded to replace it.
