Hello!!!

Over the last 4 years I've had 2 R1200RS SE's & now I've just got myself an R1250RS EX... 1st impressions are good.

Revs are low (I'm running in, & OK, I've twice had it up to 6000 instantaneously but my app says it's mostly in the 2 to 4k range, normal "spirited" riding)
Tech is good, but room for improvement
Economy seems good
Pull is awesome
Looks are good

Everything else is business as usual. Handling, controls. ABS pro is presumably doing what it should, as it should do it. Road spring setting is a bit bouncy.

Tyres (Metz) will be changed when the rear is used up for PR5s.

Only prob is it's going to be way over on miles at the 1st service as they're booked solid which is a bit crap but hey-ho.

Quick question... does an end-can from a 1200 fit or do you need a new adapter pipe?

Welcome. Yes the 1250 is very good. Like you I had 2x 1200RS before. The suspension will settle down a bit as you put the miles on. Make sure it’s set to Auto on the preload.

The Michelin’s are more modern, more compliant, more communicative, sticker and lovelier than the Z8s, but require a bit more effort to turn in IMHO. (I had the dealer change mine to R5s before I left the showroom. £50 well spent!)

Although I haven’t tried it, i hear that the 1200 end cans do fit the 1250.

I might follow your lead with the sat Nav cradle. Ugly thing in a poor position and the TFT linked to phone does a pretty good job of getting me where I need to be.

I've got a set of bar risers off a 1200 so I might fit them but the 1250 feels more sat up (to the extent that I haven't felt the need for them)... they've not got the drilled bolts for the nav mount so that needs to go if I'm going to use them.

Cheers for the info... I'll give my old silencer a polish & try it out for size.

Well cheers for that... Remus can went on with a bit of gentle persuasion. Not quite an exact fit but close enough that by slackening all the bolts you can get all the threads to take & then tighten them to make it good & solid.

Nav mount came off no probs & bar risers are on.

Back rack, Givi adapter & top box are on. My old Givi pannier mounts are presumably the same as the 1200 but desparatetly need powder coating!!!... for the amount i use em i might just rub them down, spray them, & only fit them when i really need them... which is about twice a year.

Xheads are on.

I think the Avant engine guard fits, but obviously needs the belly wings removing... any alternatives?

I removed my satnav holder recently.
You need to unscrew and remove most of the RHS panelling to get ready access to the connector.
The cradle cable has 2 plugs in the end (1*3pin & 1*2pin). Only the 3 pin will be connected.
I have been unable to get the correct protector cap from BMW to put on the now empty socket on the main loom. In the end I used a small cable tie to secure the loose socket to the frame pointing backwards and down. Hopefully this will be enough to keep it clean / safe.
The cable from the cradle is secured to the bike with a combination of small cable ties (non-removable. Must be cut) and reusable rubber cable ties. Make sure you don't lose these so they can be put back in place after you remove the satnav cable.
Whole procedure took me about 45 minutes.
