Motorcycle.com thinks that Ducati will be ending their V-twin models in the future as explained in this article: https://www.motorcycle.com/bikes/new-mod...dition-44604688

If they do, I bet it has a lot to do with the cost of manufacturing the engine design in an attempt to get their prices down to what more enthusiasts can afford. Perhaps they should try a flat-twin next?

Author states his best guess is a smaller V4. In keeping with that, I'd like to see BMW bring a smaller RR version such as a 750RR. I'm not too concerned with what Ducati does...I can't embrace their bikes...no cruise control for one thing, because Claudio Domenicali says Ducati's don't need cruise control. Oh, yes, they do...

With MotoGP heading to 850cc bikes in 2027, is there a trend toward "smaller is better"? I hope so...

Go try an Italian V twin while you can, treated myself to one as retirement project and very glad I did makes every ride a festival of crazy escapism.

I was looking at the Ducati Supersport recently. From what I read about it, it's actually an L-twin. Not sure how much it differs from the "V". But the reviewers all said the mirrors are useless. And it doesn't have cruise control.

But I'm curious about your enthusiasm...which V-twin do you own? Is it the 990 Supersport I just described? If so, can you offer more about why you like it so much? Thanks.

Hi, this bike is a 1098 pure sports bike 2007. Although used on the road its primary use is for track days at my local circuit Castle Combe.
Not in the least practical as a road bike but I keep it legal in order to ride to circuit.
Yes your correct the Ducati is an L twin set at 90 degrees between cylinders as opposed to say an Aprilia at 60 degrees.

Older Ducati�s are full of qwerks brushed off as character and take some getting to know and modifying to suit your needs but trust me they get under your skin, traded a Ducati Multi Strada 1100 air cooled for the BM back in 2016 for more power and a shaft drive practicality.

As I�ve stated mine is a retirement hobby and an additional angle to a life spent riding and modifying bikes and if you get the chance to try a Ducati then do so they�re great fun.

I was briefly interested in the Supersport. Big spanner in the works was the local Ducati dealership sales staff who couldn't be bothered to give me the test ride I had pre-booked.
