That was always my understanding, as well. BMW decrees to dealers that their bikes have there own special place. At my dealership (which bought out the original BMW dealer in town), and which is a large powersports dealer, BMW bikes are crammed in among many other brands and surrounded by boats and jet skis. I miss the old dealership, which was like a family, and BMW bikes were basically IT.

My dealer has a separate showroom for BMW motorcycles and another larger showroom for the several other brands that they sell.

Ride Now in Austin, Texas, has a 10 ft. aisle separating the BMW section from everything else. You name it, they sell it from 4 wheelers on down to mini-bikes. The BMW section can become quite crowded with bikes at times. They do business as BMW Motorcycles of Austin. Another Ride Now in Georgetown, Texas, is 20 miles away but doesn't handle BMW.

I was wrong about my BMW dealer taking on Benelli. They have a Moto Morini franchise. Which is another Chinese company that purchase an Italian brand.
