RE: R1250RS no longer on the BMW configurator - 2

I've been watching the market here ever since I bought the 22 rs. I've kind of wanted to maybe get an older GS to have as a winter bike and for more dirt oriented rides of course. So I haven't seen any 1250s, rs, rt, gs, for under 15000 and quite a few around 20000, so one at 12500 is pretty shocking. That has got to be close to 50% depreciation and it is only four years old. But i think it is a reflection of how hard it is to sell big ticket items on craigslist. The bikes listed by local used bike lots do seem to move as they are priced well and you don't have to worry about getting rolled with a bunch of cash in your pocket amongst strangers (craigslist) .... But the 12500 dollar add would be much better off at one of the consignment places for sure. They would get a lot more for it i'm sure.
Myself I did look at a one 1200 GS, a 2011 cam head model. He let me test ride it with him on a triumph dual sport. I was really impressed with the power and it really seemed like a bigger version of my old XT 500 yamahas. The GS even sounded like the old thumpers and pulled hard right off idle. I backed out of the deal when I checked the shaft and it was making a metallic clank when the rear wheel was rotated back and forth while on the stand. I checked with BMW and the drive shaft deal does not extend to air cooled bikes before 2014. Now several months later the same bike is at 6500 dollars. When I looked it was 8500. It is just really tough to sell bikes without consignment at used lots it seems. So back to looking at later water cooled bikes. When I took the RS out for a spin after riding the old GS the RS was like a fighter jet or a porsche carrera, very precise and just splendid in every way .... not going to sell that one.

It makes economic sense to shut down the 1250 watercooled production line if there is a 1300 alternative, but with spy shots of the 1300RT already on the internet and none of the 1300RS or R, it seems possible there will be no RS or R. This could happen becuase the so far pictured models are all Telever whereas the R/RS are not - however it seems unlikely however low the sales volumes as a naked bike seems a stable of any range and once you produce that the RS is not a big step. The other alternative ia a gap in production, and this is far more likely. The RT is a bigger seller and so production for the next model year could easily be taken up with RT/GS and GSA.
The UK website seems to have a good choice of RS stock going into winter and BMW have probably predcited sales v stock and seen a match that could span the demand until next model year production.

We are not seeing those sort of prices for used R1200RS in the UK.

My bike is a 2016 SE Sport with 33,000 miles. Trade in price offered recently varied from £4000 to £4500. Retail from a dealer would be about £5500. This one is same spec as my bike, half the mileage £6295 https://www.autotrader.co.uk/bike-details/202408152914859

Curious price difference, most comparable bike to yours here is also the cheapest on the most frequent car/bike sale site. Stock with aftermarket windscreen, small scrape on one cylinder cover but not on bar ends, indicators or mirrors so likely dropped to earn the scrape. No info on equipment level but I can recognize the ESA

Just because it's on the configurator doesn't mean you can actually buy one.
