Was comtemplated changing my 2016 r1200Rs for a newer model and noticed that the R1250RS no longer on the BMW configurator, does this mean the 1300 is due very soon?

Was looking for a near base spec RS, which may be hard to find. Use the bike for commuting and am planning to retire in 2 years time so was temtped by the low rate pcp deals BMW are offering, using there finance calculator i could have got a base spec with a few extras for about £40 per month which felt like a really good deal as I will be looking for something different once retired.

The USA site is still showing a lot of 2024 models. Production usually starts in August so I'm not sure why BMW is slow to update. the site.

When I was at my dealer in July I was told production of 1250 models had stopped and couldn't be ordered.

Informally chatting with my local dealer, he guessed the R1300RS would appear after the R1300RT. As for when the R1300RT appears in the US, he had no information.

Here in the states in Colorado there are three RS's on the "list" a 2016 1200 for 10000 and a 2023 1250 for 16500 and very shockingly a 2020 1250 for 12500 which has been for sale for a year or so with the price steadily dropping. I find that awful really,. I don't want to sell mine but it would be nice to see it hold some value. I don't think many of the bikes sell on craigslist IMO. People list them I think to see if they can get a moonshot price before they trade them in .... the one for 12500 has a few extras like bags, seat, windscreen and one of the 719 options and most of the luxury packages and not a lot of miles either. A screaming deal for sure if your looking for a 1250 in the states imo ..... i still owe 15000 on my 22 .... wow

I was considering this when both reviewing used options vs new and depreciation back in '22 (still somewhat funny covid supply chain time) and generally a mostly loaded (all the ESA and similar bits but no 719's, fancy wheels, panniers...) will depreciate around 20-25% in 2-4 years with mileage average mileage being around 5k miles per year.

In EUR we are talking about 15-16k for bikes 2020-2023 (No 2024 ads in range) that would cost 20-21k EUR at the dealer.

While most will drop down to around 18k after a season unless someone bought one and it sat in the garage with 500km on the clock after that the depreciation slows down quite a bit.

There's 1200's from ~2015 so 10 years old with well over 40-50k and comparatively less equipment than the newer 1250s that stick to the 10-12k.

From that standpoint 50% depreciation over 10 years is well within reason for me, not that I'd trade or sell mine unless they make a substantial objective improvement in the following iterations with some crazy buyback incentives.

On the other hand the 1250GS (while more expensive) suffers worse depreciation, I assume as the more popular model and yearly one-off enthusiast city guys buy them on impulse and compete to sell them the next winter. Then again the average yearly income here is less than the 1250/1300GS MSRP so... I suppose even poor leasing decisions end up on the GS more often than the RS.
